I'm getting a permissions error in Respondus LockDown Browser. What should I do?

If you are getting an error when you attempt to open the Respondus LockDown Browser that says: “You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item,” it may be an issue with the permissions on your system or antivirus software that you have installed. We recommend completely un-installing the old version of this software and doing a new installation while directly logged into the system as a local administrator with full rights to make setting and software changes on your computer. You can do so by going to our Software Resources page.

We also recommend uninstalling any older version of this software and re-installing the latest version of Respondus LockDown Browser at the start of each semester, prior to taking any course exams in your fully online courses.
