Pop-up advertisement windows opens every time I click on a link and/or nothing happens when I try to log into Blackboard.

Description

iMesh has been installed on the computer you are currently using. The program causes many problems with Blackboard's functionality and it also installs third party software, some of which is known to be spyware.

The following programs are known to be installed by iMesh:CommonName, FirstLook Portal, FT remove, iMesh (appears in the "Programs" menu), iMesh Ads-support, New.net Domains 4.50, Top Text iLookup (appears in the "Programs" menu), Bonzi Buddy link (appears in the "Programs" menu).

The following directories are created in C:Program Files...: eZula, NewDotNet, FirstLook, Flt, CommonName, and iMesh.

Solution:

  1. Go to: Start » Control Panel » Add or Remove Programs

    Please do not restart the PC until instructed to do so .If you get prompted to restart click "No".

  2. First uninstall "eAnthology"...

    1. When you click on change/remove... a popup will appear telling you to DEACTIVATE all the "features".

    2. Click on the "eAnthology Manager" button.

    3. On the left side there are 3 buttons in a column... click on the Stop sign button.

    4. Go through each of the following tabs: Threat Scanner, Pop-up Detector, and Email Sensor and look for a "Deactivate" button and click on it.

    5. On the left side there are 3 buttons in a column... click on the "O" (colored red) button.

    6. Go to following tab: "The 4th Coming" and look for a "Deactivate" button and click on it.

    7. At the bottom of the screen, there will be a checkbox that reads "Shutdown all eAnthology products". Please check the box.

    8. It will ask you if you are sure that you want to remove product, PLEASE click "Yes" and then "Ok".

    9. Click on the "Close" button on the RIGHT side of the screen.

    10. Go back to add/remove programs and click on change/remove.

  3. Continue to look for any of the other following named programs and procede to un- install them. Remember, look for CommonName, FirstLook Portal, FT remove, iMesh Ads-support, New.net Domains 4.50, Top Text iLookup, and Bonzi Buddy link.

  4. Restart the PC.


Removing the Residue:

  1. Go to C:Program Files and delete the following directories: eZula, NewDotNet, FirstLook, Flt, CommonName, iMesh, Acceleration Software, and inside the "Common Files" a directory called "eAcceleration".

  2. Restart your PC. After this process all traces of the program should have been removed
